HISTORY OF COPPERSTONE UNIVERSITY

Copperstone University was established in 2004, through company incorporation, with the primary objective of fostering quality and solid higher education to Zambians and the world at large.

It is founded on the strong premise of “Copper – Stone” principle – a stone that lays a solid foundation to Zambian‟s development and a backbone to the country‟s economy.

So the name “Copperstone” is steeped in the historical aspects of this country and it becomes the first institutionalised named to be coined in this fashion.

Copperstone is one of the leading private university, a Registered Chartered University registered by the Higher Education Authority (under 2013 University Act) Certificate of Registration Number HEA/030

Welcome to Copperstone University.

Driven by Creative knowledge; In the knowledge based economy, it is a new generation of high achievers, scholars and most creative who will be the driving force.

Creativeness is the be- all and end-all of human capability.

The sky is no limit, the Universe is the playground.

Perhaps, Copperstone‟s greatest dream is about to be realised with the globalisation of the Institute of the Forensic and Strategic Studies.

This eminent collaboration, aims at revolutionising the profession through enhanced technology, we are pioneers of Forensic in the nation of  Zambia.

We are equally proud that through our research efforts, Copperstone has been pioneers in programs such as Design and Technology, Occupational Safety and Health Environment (OSHE) probably we are the leading provider in the SADC Region.

We are also proud of programs such as Leather Technology leading to an MOU with COMESA and the Fire Technology training to our Fire Engineers.

We are equally grateful to the Chinese Government through the ZCCZ – Economic zone, for the MOU entered into regarding the English Training program for the Chinese College Teachers Including the setting of the Centre for Language by the China Open University, the largest University in China.

The Copperstone University Entrepreneurship training program is a series of Practical reflective learning and mentorship series to equip participants with both applied knowledge and customised practical entrepreneurial scenario to help them prepare for venturing into the real world of starting the sustainable business.

We are alive to the fact that the global market is driven by the entrepreneurial undertakings, As a country, Zambia has enormous entrepreneurial opportunities for all! Cutting across various sectors of our society.

Therefore Copperstone would continue to compliment to the entrepreneurial aspirations of many Zambians from all walks of life in line with the Zambian government policy through provisions of:

 Structured academic program in entrepreneurship
 Provision of research and Consultancy services in Entrepreneurship
 Develop the young enterprise and enterprise development incubation facilities.

We thank the Comesa where Comesa has given us the opportunity to chair the Academia platform of the member states  in the Institute of Leather and Leather products (LLPI) headquartered in Addis Ababa Ethiopia.

  Building partnerships with Government, industry, other tertiary institutions and the the Global entities.

Above all, goals and functions of Copperstone University are centered around career development as well as academic successes and personal satisfaction.
The University is a mulit-disciplinary institute offering programmes from Diploma, Degree, Masters and Doctorate Level.
We also provide tailor made programmes.

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

The University operates on the semester system consisting of three (3) semesters in a year.
However, programmes with long syllabi which cannot fit in the 3 semester system , are offered in two semesters system in a year.

The Three Semester system runs as follows:
 January to April
 May to August
 September to December there is a two weeks break in each semester.

The Two semester system runs as follows:
 January to June
 July to December There is a two weeks break in each semester


ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Diploma / Degree Programmes
(a) Five credits or better

Post Graduate programmes
(a) Applicants should have first degree, or a professional qualification or its equivalent, in any discipline.
(b) Applicants should have a minimum of two years relevant management experience.

All Doctorate degree students are required to earn a minimum of 33 credits points by completion of the following requirements:
1. Doctoral Research outline (DRO)
2. Advanced Research Methods
3. Dissertation preparations
4. Advanced seminars in the Specialisation
5. Three courses in the area of concentration
6. Doctoral Dissertation

Copperstone University is private University  in Zambia accredited by the Ministry of Education who are regulators of education in Zambia. A Registered Chartered University registered by the Higher Education Authority (under 2013 University Act) Certificate of Registration Number HEA/030.

BOARDING FACILITY

Copperstone University offers self – catering Hostels facilities to its students. Its hostels accommodates female and male students separately. In common rooms students are provided with a Tv‟.

TRANSPORT
Students are provided with transport during sporting activities, study tours and other official trips .

LIBRARY
The University has a modern library, where students can study and loan books to facilitate their academic activities.

COMPUTER LAB
Copperstone has a modern computer laboratory with internet facilities.
